About

What is this, anyway?

Dinner and a Murder was first started in 2006 by Bob & Kathleen Logue as a fundraiser for the OlyCap RSVP program.  After Bob’s retirement, David Crozier and the PT Kiwanis Club had taken over its sponsorship, and it now serves as a fundraiser for Kiwanis children’s programs.  2024 will be our 17th year. Entertainment is provided in the form of an interactive mystery, where you get to be the detective. You will also be served a gourmet dinner with dessert.  Drinks are available.

When is it happening?

Our Mystery Dinner will be held annually on the first weekend of December, Friday and Saturday nights, from 5PM to 9PM.  2024’s show will be on December 6 & 7.

Where does it take place?

The Oscar Erickson Building at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

How much are tickets?

Tickets are $60 each and include admission to the show, a gourmet dinner and dessert.

How do I get tickets?

You can order them online through brownpapertickets.com or buy them directly from Mary Crozier – [email protected] or 360-531-0200.  You can also fill out and mail this form.  All tickets are “Will Call”.

Who benefits from this fundraiser?

This event benefits the Port Townsend Kiwanis Club’s Children’s Programs throughout Jefferson County.   In previous years we were able to help fund:

Grant Street Elementary:  Birth to 3 Program, and pre-school

Oly-Cap: Head Start and Early Head Start Programs

Jefferson County Health Dept. – Nurse-Family Partnership (Birth to 2-year-olds, and home visits)

Port Townsend Library – 1- to 4-year-old children, various reading programs and Books for Babies-born at Jefferson Healthcare Hospital

Olympic Angels and Foster Supports groups who provide support for foster kids and their families.

Should I bring any cash?

Yes.  It’s a good idea. Drinks are available from the bar. We auction off the best table in the house every year, and we also have some fun conducting “arrests” and posting bail during dinner.

How does the audience participate?

Members of the audience are invited to solve the mystery. The first part of the show is a live & video performance that happens on stage and screen while the audience spectates. After dinner is served, the audience gets a chance to question each of the suspects in turn. You then try to solve the mystery based on the clues you have collected. You might be called upon as a “volunteer” to be part of the show, but you have the right of first refusal. You only have to participate to the level you choose!

Can I come in costume?

Please do! We love it when the audience gets into the show.
